Is my WAV uploaded to convert it?

Which bitrate should I use?

320 kbps for anything a listener will judge, 256 kbps when size matters slightly more than headroom, 192 kbps for quick demos, 128 kbps only when the file has to be tiny. Below 192 kbps cymbals and reverb tails are the first things to smear.

Does converting lose quality?

Yes. MP3 is lossy: data is discarded permanently and cannot be recovered by converting back to WAV. Always keep the WAV as your master and treat the MP3 as a delivery copy.

What is the file size going to be?

Roughly bitrate multiplied by duration: a four-minute track at 320 kbps is about 9.6 MB, at 192 kbps about 5.8 MB. The tool estimates it before you convert.

Can I convert AIFF, FLAC or M4A too?

How this works

Most free converters ask you to upload the track to a server you know nothing about. For unreleased music that is a bad trade for a job the browser can do on its own. This page decodes your file with Web Audio and encodes MP3 locally.

The estimate you see before converting is simply bitrate multiplied by duration, which is what constant-bitrate MP3 produces. Choose 320 kbps unless the file size is the actual problem — the difference shows up in cymbals, room tails and dense high-mid detail.

One rule worth keeping: never let the MP3 become your master. Archive the WAV, send the MP3. If you later prepare that material to train a Sound in ANYANO, feed it the WAV.
