How this works
A scale is an interval pattern applied to a root. Major is 2-2-1-2-2-2-1 semitones; natural minor is the same set of notes started on the sixth degree. Every scale here comes from a fixed interval list, so the output is exact rather than approximate.
The chord table is the practical part. Building a triad on each degree using only scale notes gives you the chords that will sound in key, and the Roman numerals tell you the function — uppercase for major, lowercase for minor, ° for diminished.
Scales describe convention, not obligation. Notes outside a scale are borrowed, not wrong, and most interesting harmony involves leaving the scale on purpose.
