How this works
The maths is simple and exact: total beats are bars × beats per bar, scaled by 4 divided by the beat unit so that eighth-note and half-note signatures behave correctly. Duration is beats × 60 / BPM, and the sample count is that duration times the sample rate.
Use the sample count when you are editing to the boundary of a loop. Rounding a loop to the nearest millisecond can leave a fraction of a sample of error, which is inaudible once but accumulates into an obvious drift over dozens of repeats.
