Tap Tempo

Tap along with the music and read the tempo. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is analysed — this is timing maths in your browser.

No audio, no upload, no account. Your taps never leave this page.

Tempo doubling is the usual disagreement between people and software: 140 BPM and 70 BPM describe the same groove counted differently. Pick whichever matches how you feel the beat.

Detail

How this works

Tap tempo works by measuring the time between your taps. The tool keeps your last eight intervals, takes the median, discards any interval more than 1.8× longer or shorter than it, and averages what is left. That is why one mistimed tap nudges the reading instead of destroying it.

If you stop for more than two seconds the measurement restarts, so you can move between tracks without pressing reset.

Tapping is the fastest way to get a tempo for live playing, an acoustic recording or a rehearsal idea. For a finished audio file, the BPM & Key Finder reads tempo and key straight from the waveform instead.
