Is my sample uploaded anywhere?

No. It is decoded by your browser and analyzed in the page. Nothing is sent to a server and nothing is stored, so unreleased material and private sample packs are safe.

What does it tell me about a sample?

Tempo and key estimated from the audio, the length in bars at that tempo, the file facts including sample rate and bit depth, peak and RMS levels, crest factor, and the keys that will mix with it.

How do I know if a loop is a clean loop?

The length line compares the duration with the bar length at the detected tempo. If it lands on a whole number of bars it will loop cleanly; if it is 3.97 bars there is a trim or a tempo mismatch to sort out first.

Why is the key wrong on my drum loop?

Key estimation looks for a tonal centre. Unpitched percussion does not have one, so the answer will be whichever pitch class the resonances happen to favour. Treat the key as meaningless for drums and useful for anything melodic.

Can I use this on a sample pack I bought?

Yes, and nothing about the file leaves your machine. Analysing a sample is not a licensing question — what you do with it afterwards is governed by whatever licence came with the pack.

How this works

Sample libraries lie. Filenames say 128 BPM when the audio is 127.6, keys are copied from the wrong preset, and a loop that claims to be four bars is four bars plus a stray fifty milliseconds of tail. Measuring the file settles all three questions before you build a session around it.

Tempo and key here are estimates from the audio itself, with a confidence reading attached. Melodic material tends to be reliable; percussion, heavily modulated pads and very short one-shots are where estimates go wrong, which is why the alternative candidates are listed rather than hidden.

The rest is plain measurement: sample rate, bit depth, container, peak, RMS and crest factor. That is the part that decides whether a sample is worth keeping in a library you will still be using in five years.
