Will a loud master be rejected by streaming platforms?

No. Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and Tidal normalise playback level instead of rejecting files. A loud master is simply turned down, so the loudness you added is not heard — only what it cost in crest and detail.

What loudness should I aim for?

Aim for what the music needs, then check the number. If it lands near the platform target you gain nothing by pushing further; if it lands far above, ask whether the limiting was worth it.

Why does true peak matter more than sample peak?

Lossy encoders and converters reconstruct the waveform between your samples, and that reconstruction can peak higher than any stored sample. A master sitting at 0.0 dBFS sample peak can easily be over 1 dBTP after encoding, which is where audible distortion comes from.

Is being quieter than the target a problem?

Only for level matching. Platforms turn loud material down but do not turn quiet material up, so a very quiet master plays quietly next to everything else. That is a mixing and mastering decision, not a technical failure.

How this works

The question behind this tool is really about consequences. Loudness itself is not a fault; what matters is that every major platform normalises playback, so pushing a master 4 LU past the target does not make it louder for a listener — it only spends crest and detail for nothing.

The measurement follows ITU-R BS.1770-4: K-weighted, gated integrated loudness plus an oversampled true peak. The verdict is then a straight comparison against documented platform behaviour, which is why it stays the same every time you drop in the same file.

Two figures are worth keeping in view together. Loudness tells you where you sit relative to everything else, and peak-to-loudness tells you what that position cost. A master at the target with 11 dB of crest and a master at the target with 5 dB of crest are very different records.
