How this works

Danceability is a preference, not a measurement, so this tool is explicitly experimental. What it can measure is the pulse: how strongly onsets line up with the detected beat, how evenly that pattern repeats over one, two and four beats, where the tempo sits, and how much energy is carried below 200 Hz.

Those four figures are combined at 35%, 30%, 20% and 15% respectively. The weights are published because the number is only useful if you can see what produced it and adjust your reading of it. It is not Spotify's danceability value and makes no claim to match it.

The practical use is comparison within your own catalogue: which of two drafts drives harder, whether a swung edit lost the pulse, or how a reference track measures against what you have made.
